Harware requirements
Posted: May 11, 2006 6:54 PM

Hi all,

Sad to say, we used to purchase this product until 1 year ago but we stopped due to some stability problems (maybe our fault). We decided to follow a different road and went for NetFlow stuff.

Now, a client asked us to view real time traffic to compare it against Allot. We already have some statistic solution but would like to evaluate Networks Probe to be able to offer them a fast solution.

What hardware is recommended to sustain about 1 hour of traffic data with more or less 10Mbps troughput (20 in total). Data older than this 1 hour will be completelly removed / erased / zipped but I need 1 hour of quite precise data (like 5 sec polling)

We would like to have at least stats for app and IP and the combination of both. No need for MAC stuff.

Thanks for your help. Regards.

I would suggest at least a 2 GHz CPU with and 1 GB memory. We have ran it on testbeds with about 10MB/s throughput without any problems.
You should set the probe to reset at least 2 times a day, otherwise the memory would be filled up quite fast.
