I am currently trying to use MS virtual server to run Netprobe (1.2.2) and it looks like it is not picking up the data from the second NIC card. I have the Netprobe driver on the Created Virtual server NIC, but can not install it on the Main (Physical) Virtual server NIC. Is there a server 2003 driver available? Has anyone else gotten this to work on a Virtual server?
I do not know any body who has gotten this to work on Virutal server. Network Probe can only monitor one network card at a time. In the advanced setup tab you can change the network card to monitor. In the drop down box the network cards recognized by the probe are shown. Are both of your cards recognized? We have tested on a Windows Server 2003 machine and network probe is working fine.
Yes, it see's both network cards, but on a virtual server they are virtual cards hooked to real (physical) cards. The NIC card I am monitoring is connected to a span port so I can see my VPN network. This works well on a standard server 2000 or 2003, seems to not like the virtual NIC though on a virtual server. I thought I could install the Network Probe driver on both cards (the Virtual and physical) but it does not like the drivers for the Physical NIC, installs fine to the virtual NIC. Plus Network Probe is installed on the Virtual server, not the Physical server.
