Matrix Sum Validator

Is there a way to display the current total of the matrix in a field? For example I want the total to add up to 100 but without displaying the current total the user has to pull out there calculator for the number of cells we are using.
Its simple with javascript. Is there a way to display the current total with this sum validator or does it only work on submit.
Does anyone have a custom plugin they could share????
