Network probe not working?

I came in this morning to do my daily check and opened up network probe to find that it is not working at all. It opens up but the windows where data would normally be located are empty. Also when I hit the data log button the data log screen pops up with "access denied" in the window.

I have tried to start/stop the network probe service and have rebooted the computer and those did not help.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you try reinstalling Network Probe?

I have completely removed it from the system. I used the uninstaller and then went back though and deleted the file folders found under c:\program files\ Only thing I did not do is to go manually though the registry.

I reinstalled network probe 1.1.2 as that is the version I have downloaded and most likely have the licience for. It still does not work? Same problem I try and access the data files and get 'access denied'.

What verision can I get with out renewing/upgrading my license? I imagine any version under 2.0.0?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you get the "Access denied" message in other parts of the program?

Which browser are you using? Try with another browser to see if the problem persists.

Tried interent explorer as I typically use Firefox and got the same problems.

I get "Access Denied" when ever I press any of the buttons at the bottom (Probe Setup, User setup, etc) with the exception of the help button.

The data windows is empty and if I click another tab all it says is "loading Data..."

Still stumped. I looked at the rights of the files in on the systems hard drive and they are fine. I do not have windows firewall running so that is not the issue.

Up to this point this product has been great. Scratchin my head on this one. Any ideas? Thanks!

Uninstalled everything just like before BUT I went though the registry and deleted all keys that came up that matched "probe" keyword. Still the same issue. I also noticed the this error when I started up:

2005/05/10 13:48:24 The selected adapter could not be recognized as a valid ethernet device.
2005/05/10 13:48:24 Make sure that the packet driver is properly installed and that you rebooted.

I have not changed the machine in anyway other then applying the normal Windows XP Pro patches it needs from timt to time.

Thanks!

Log from this morning.

2005/05/11 07:54:05 Make sure that the packet driver is properly installed and that you rebooted.
2005/05/11 07:54:05 The selected adapter could not be recognized as a valid ethernet device.
2005/05/11 07:54:05 Error: Unable to start packet driver.
2005/05/11 07:54:04 loading protocol definitions...
2005/05/11 07:54:03 Probe startup initialized...

Looks like the packet driver is having some sort of issue? I am running Ethereal on the same machine and have been for quite some time. In the past this has not caused an issue.

Can somebody please help?

Give this a try:
1. Uninstall Network Probe
2. Manually delete everything under the "Program Files/Network Probe" folder.
3. Remove the "NetProbe Packet Driver" from the list of items in the "General" tab of your Network Connection Properties.
4. Reboot
5. Install Network Probe
6. Reboot

Which network card do you have?

I figured out what it is but am unable to fix it. I am having major issues with the TCP/IP stack on my machine. I can't even open that window. After spending about 7 hours trying to fix this using every methoed I know of (I am an MCSE) and some stuff on the net I am at a total loss. Time to reformat and relaod my system. Ugh.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Have you tried to reboot your computer or browse your 'systems tools' resources. I'm sure I'm sure you've taken some of these measures already. If that doesn't work you might as well as delete the entire system and reinstall or even upgrade your existing version of the software.
